Restaurants, cafes etc.

A selection of the best cafes and restaurants close to the Jilska apartment, as chosen by previous guests.

Tip: the restaurants on the Old Town Square are very expensive but the ones in side streets off the Square are much cheaper and usually better.

Internet cafe: there are a few internet cafes on Wenceslas Square and elsewhere in the centre, although there are not many of them.

Culinaria is a delicatessen selling hot and cold food, fresh fruit juice and smoothies, high quality coffee, sandwiches and a large cake selection (not Czech cakes but Western-standard cakes).

Directions: exit Jilska apartment building via the back door, turn left and walk to the end (about 20 metres) then turn right and walk for about 50 metres. You will see it on the corner.

U Vejvodu is a Czech/German-style beer hall with a bar upstairs and restaurant in the large cellar. It does tend to get quite crowded but the food and beer is good and not that expensive.

Directions: exit Jilska apartment building via the front door, turn left and walk for about 20 metres - you will see it directly in front of you on Jilska street

Cafe Louvre is the best local cafe for breakfast. It was founded in 1902 and previous guests include Einstein and Kafka, although that was quite a while ago.

Directions: exit Jilska apartment building via the front door, turn left and walk for about 100 metres to Tesco - you will see it about 3 buildings to the right of Tesco - the words Cafe Louvre are in big letters on the front of the building. It is on the second floor.
